Thousands Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Weather Systems
Around 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, generating strong winds hitting 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction
Residents witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Weather Woes
Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in the southern state also faced power outages after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services handled 598 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk anticipated across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
