A Major Commitment
In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.
"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal.
"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to evolve comedy past its current cynical streak. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.
“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences a little more time to bask in the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.
