Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his future following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase like this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
