R360 Competition Recruits Face 10-Season Suspension from NRL

The athlete gained 20 caps for the All Blacks before changing loyalty to Samoa.

The NRL's authority has stated that players who join the “rebel” R360 will be prohibited for 10 years.

The proposed competition, set to start in late 2026, is hoping to draw rugby union and rugby league players with lucrative deals and a condensed fixture list.

Top National Rugby League athletes have allegedly been contacted by the new league, which will feature six or eight men's clubs and four women's teams operating from key urban centers around the world.

Samoa's the player, who plays for the Warriors in the competition, has said he has had negotiations involving the new organization.

Ryan Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Haas and Gray are also said to be thinking about signing R360.

Several leading rugby union nations, among them Australia, earlier declared a prohibition on players joining R360 playing international matches.

“We have consulted our teams and we've taken firm action,” commented Australian Rugby League Commission head the official.

“Regrettably, there will continually be organizations that attempt to hijack our code for monetary profit.

“They fail to contribute in development systems or the development of talent. They merely capitalize on the dedication of existing bodies, endangering athletes of monetary damage while profiting themselves.

“Essentially, they are, copying the game.”

The league is co-founded by retired international Tindall and supported by commercial backers.

After the possible rugby union prohibitions were revealed last week, it said: “We aim to collaborate collaboratively as a component of the international rugby schedule.

“The series is designed with bespoke schedules for male and female sides and R360 will allow all athletes for international matches, as included in their contracts.”

The breakaway group will apply for endorsement for its proposals from World Rugby, the sport's regulatory group, at its board session in the coming year.
