The Survivor
The courageous student threw back a explosive device from Hamas attackers before being captured in the attack on Israel in the recent conflict, states the other Nepalese student he saved.
"My survival may not have survived if both grenades had exploded. He exhibited bravery and hurled the device out," the survivor disclosed to media outlets.
He was commenting after the defense forces confirmed his friend's body as being one of four dead hostages returned by Hamas under the recent truce agreement.
The young student was 23 and employed on a agricultural community when he was taken by Hamas into imprisonment along with numerous individuals on 7 October 2023. It remains unclear how or when he passed away.
The student's loved ones prayed right up to the negotiation cutoff that he might be among living hostages returned on 13 October, but he was not, and a subsequent day their worst fears were confirmed.
The Attack
The student, Dhan Bahadur and fifteen other Nepalese agriculture students had been in Israel for just over three weeks when Kibbutz Alumim was assaulted.
"The students were aware that there may be a conflict in Israel. But we had little expectation that there could be any ground attack of that magnitude," Dhan Bahadur explained. "They thought that there could be missile attacks and we would be safe if we remained underground, in the bunkers."
For the young individuals who'd been invited under the national "educational initiative" it was a great opportunity to make better lives for their futures and their families in Nepal.
The survivor credits his safety to his friend's courage.
"During of the assault, multiple explosives were launched near the shelters. My friend grabbed a device and threw it away; another detonated within. Due to that blast, myself and several companions were wounded," he recalls.
"He was unharmed at that moment. If the two grenades had exploded, I would not have been speaking with you today."
Ten of the Nepalese individuals were killed in the attack. Their companion was the sole person taken hostage.
"The friends saw each other for the last time when he and others were being shifted to another bunker," Dhan Bahadur explains. "Because, after the wounding, I and I stayed in the initial bunker. Later came to know that there were two attacks in the shelter where he took refuge and was was taken prisoner from there."

Remembering Bipin
The 27-year-old states he feels profound grief after learning about his friend's death. He and his companion studied together in their educational institution in their hometown, Nepal.
"We made all possible attempts from our sides to secure his freedom. We did all we could. But recently, we had to confront such shocking news. All of Nepal is in grief. I cannot comprehend what to say. Truly have no words to describe my sadness."
Dhan Bahadur says his friend and other colleagues had the same goal of making little savings and establishing their personal enterprise after returning from the exchange programme in Israel.
"He loved playing football and sports. The friends would chat for hours about our goals and aspirations. He wanted to achieve his physique in excellent condition and to purchase a new device. Together even created a musical piece about friendship with my phone. He also spoke about presenting himself in a visual production."

Aftermath
On 14 October, the Israeli military said they believed the student was "murdered in captivity during the initial period of the war". There's no way of externally verifying that.
But should this be the situation, the survivor said, the global authorities should ask Hamas about the reasons it happened.
He said he had lacked any support from national authorities following his wounding but hoped the host nation would help his friend's relatives.
Bipin's immediate family members have not released any comment to date.
Footage from the attack date depicted him walking inside a medical facility in the urban area. His family obtained no indication of life for a twelve months, until the Israeli military shared a video of him in captivity around November 2023.
Relatives characterized the footage as "proof of survival" just hours before the ceasefire deal was agreed, and were praying for a miracle.
Currently in his native place of his community Bipin's family are mourning after hearing information of his death.

Family Response
His mother and sister had traveled to the US to lobby for the freedom of hostages, the student's relative family member informed media.
The relative says the family has limited expression to explain the sorrow. "His female relatives are coming back from US on Thursday. The parent is not in the condition to articulate the pain in language."
Meanwhile it's uncertain when Bipin's remains will be returned to his relatives.
The nation is undertaking required preparations to return his body to Nepal, as it did for the remaining students who perished, Nepal's government department said.
"We are all shocked by the information of Bipin Joshi's death. In this time of sorrow [we] extend our {deep|pro
